Adobe illustrator creating custom arrows (curved, dashed…)

Illustrating an image or a picture by drawing some lines, arrows and some texts would give more information to the user rather than just showing it. This tutorial will focus on drawing custom arrows. Creating custom arrows with “Photoshop” is little over head than in Illustrator.
Using illustrator we can create a custom arrow in quite simple steps:
step 1: Open adobe illustrator and create a new file with a name as shown below:
step 2: Select the pen tool and draw a custom shape (curve).
step 3: From the right side panel select the “STROKE” tab from the group (STROKE, GRADIENT, TRANSPARENCY)
* If the Stroke window is not open then open it by clicking: “window” in the menu bar then > “Stroke”
step 4: From stroke tab you can change the weight so as to increase the stroke density.
step 5: You can also make the stroke to dashed line by checking the ‘Dashed line’ from the same tab, set the properties of the dashed line.
step 6: Once done with editing the line add the Arrow head by clicking the ‘Arrowheads’ drop down and picking one. Select the required style and don’t worry of the arrow head direction we can reverse that any time just by clicking the button.
step 7: Now if you feel that the arrow is smaller then you can increase the arrow size alone by setting the “scale”.
Example final result will be like this:
Done! now that you have created a custom arrow you can use that for illustrations. Here’s an example:
